I lead large-scale technology organisations and build AI-native systems designed for leverage, resilience and long-term scale. As Director of Technology, I oversee 300+ engineers across Product, Engineering, Data and Platform disciplines, operating complex, high-availability systems in regulated environments.

My focus is disciplined architecture, clear ownership, and platforms that scale globally, both technically and organisationally.

My leadership philosophy is grounded in clarity and enablement. I build strong leadership benches, define explicit accountability, and create cultures where high standards and psychological safety coexist. Over recent years, I have been embedding AI directly into the operating model, not as experimentation but as structural advantage. We are deploying agentic systems that:

I grew up at the edge of two worlds. My childhood was cassette tapes, VHS rewinds, physical encyclopedias, and dial-up tones. The 80s and 90s were tactile, mechanical, and finite. Technology had weight. It had switches. It had limits.

Wood-panelled TVs, tape decks, the satisfying click of a floppy drive. Nothing was instant. Everything was earned.

I grew up trilingual, between cultures and between eras. That duality runs deep. I've always been comfortable holding two worlds at once and finding the bridge between them.

My first love was mechanical engineering. I was fascinated by how things worked. engines, gears, the physics of motion. I wanted to understand the machine. Take it apart. Put it back together better. That instinct to deconstruct and rebuild has never left me.

But then the computer arrived. And with it, the internet.

I remember the first time a modem connected. The screech of the handshake. A webpage loading from the other side of the world. It was like discovering a door that led everywhere. The physical world had edges. This one didn't.

That changed everything. The trajectory of my life pivoted. Mechanical engineering gave me the mindset. systems thinking, precision, respect for constraints. But computing and the internet gave me the canvas. Suddenly I wasn't limited to what I could build with my hands. I could build with logic, networks, and infinite scale.

I watched the transition from analog to digital in real time. From floppy disks to broadband. From static web pages to distributed systems. From desktop computing to cloud infrastructure. From deterministic software to adaptive, learning systems.

I did not just witness the birth of the digital world. I grew with it.

So I built. For 25 years, across every layer. code, infrastructure, teams, organisations, strategy. From a desk in Sydney to directing engineering for a global platform spanning five regions and 300+ engineers.

Today, I lead large-scale technology organisations building AI-native platforms, agentic systems, and autonomous workflows. The same curiosity that made me take apart engines as a kid now drives how I think about distributed architecture, cognitive automation, and organisational design in the AI era.

And here's what I know to be true: we are standing at the same frontier again.

The feeling is identical. The same electricity that ran through the room when you first heard a modem connect. when a webpage loaded from the other side of the world. when you realised the old rules no longer applied. That feeling is back. AI is not the next feature. It's the next internet. A fundamental rewiring of how systems think, how organisations operate, and how leverage is created.

The last time this happened, most people watched. A few people built. I was one of the builders then. I'm one of the builders now.

The analog world taught discipline. The digital world unlocked scale. AI is redefining leverage. Two worlds made me. I'm building the third.

OFF THE CLOCK

When the title comes off, the curiosity stays on.

Code is my craft. I don't just lead engineers. I still am one. Late nights wiring up AI agents, automating every corner of my house, building tools nobody asked for but everyone ends up using. Home Assistant runs my house. Stubbornness runs Home Assistant.

Travel is non-negotiable. Street food in Bangkok, espresso in Rome, getting lost in Tokyo backstreets. I travel to eat, to walk, to shoot, and to remind myself how big this place actually is.

Photography keeps me honest. I shoot with a Leica M for the soul, a Canon R5 for the precision, and a collection of DJI Mavic drones for the perspectives I can't reach on foot. Street, travel, landscape, family.

Food and wine are a religion. Not the pretentious kind. The kind where you find a hole-in-the-wall in a laneway and it changes your week. Life is too short for average meals.

The outdoors resets everything. Camping with the kids, boating on open water, hiking into places with no signal. Nature is the off switch I never knew I needed.

Cars. Isle of Man Green BMW M5. School drop-off has never been more dramatic.

Family is the centre of everything. Gayle, Leo, and Carla. Being a father changed the algorithm. Leo plays footy and I'm on the sideline losing my voice. Carla has opinions about everything and she's usually right.
